An exciting opportunity for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse has arisen on the Robin Smith Ward, a 28‑bedded acute surgical ward.
Join the senior nursing team to deliver high standard, patient‑centred care in a complex and challenging environment, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for a defined group of patients, ensuring alignment with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant guidelines.
- Co‑ordinate patients’ discharge arrangements in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy and liaise with other agencies as necessary.
- Promote a patient‑focused approach to care in collaboration with health professionals.
- Educate patients and carers when a need is identified, providing information that enables patients to make choices about a healthier lifestyle.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all clinical documentation by the nursing team.
- Maintain a safe ward/department environment.
- Manage the ward/department, acting as deputy to the person holding continuing responsibility when required, and develop leadership skills.
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse Part 1, 2, 12 with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
- Teaching and assessing qualification recognised by the NMC.
- UK professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
- Training in management or HR.
- Diploma or degree in a health‑related subject.
- Computer and IT literacy skills.
- Evidence of leadership experience.
- Understanding of basic principles of effective budgetary and staff management.
- Minimum three years of relevant clinical experience.

- Must have appropriate UK professional registration.
- Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
