Location: Birmingham (SCC operates hybrid working, which comprises a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent

Role Purpose
Responsible for the delivery of complex transitions of services and/or project change into live service, to be supported by SCC live service support teams and potentially 3rd parties. The role will engage at pre‑sales stage to understand and guide scope, then align operational teams and customer expectations, ultimately managing these successfully through the project lifecycle.
Full UK driving licence needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage large‑scale, complex or specialist transition and transformation projects, or major streams in a very large programme; provide defined deliverables to specification, within agreed cost and timescales, meeting necessary quality standards.
- On‑board new customers/services, including service take‑on, contract novation, TUPE; handle complex stakeholder management and expectation setting, control budgets, resourcing, staff development and service acceptance criteria.
- Optimise resource utilisation within agreed revenue and expense budget targets, ensuring cost‑effective services and maximising profitability to SCC.
- Drive continual service improvement of transition management processes across strategic functions to achieve consistency and new ways of working.
- Maintain professional relationships and communicate effectively with all parties involved, ensuring expectations and acceptance criteria are agreed and managed throughout the engagement.
- Manage service exit transition requirements of end‑of‑contract customers.
- Provide regular progress reporting to Portfolio and Project Lead, highlighting any RAID observations and managing them to closure.
- Bear overall responsibility for the P&L of the engagement; ensure accurate budgetary information, raise timely change controls, and raise any financial risks promptly.
- Assess and prioritise stakeholder requirements and manage expectations.
- Manage financial P&L performance (cost and margin) on a project; interpret and present financial reports, adjusting the project accordingly.
- Actively manage risks in the risk register and address challenges in risk mitigation plans.
- Update the project plan, schedule, and risk assessments as needed.
- Escalate engagement issues efficiently to enable effective mitigation plans.
- Deliver clear and concise stakeholder management, both internally and customer‑facing, including creating a Project Board and liaising with key SCC service providers and 3rd‑party organisations.
Skills and Experience
- High competence in IT (Information Technology) or a related industry, with proven skills in delivering all aspects of complex engagements on time, to budget, and to quality.
- Ability to forecast project budgets and deliver against forecast with clear communication and escalation where budget will be breached.
- Strong ability to run several simultaneous complex engagements in a fast‑paced environment to successful completion.
- Strong negotiation skills and confident presentation ability in various internal and client situations.
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated team leadership: lead, manage, and mentor project teams to ensure effective IT project delivery.
- Excellent relationship building, communication, and management skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Must obtain the required Government and/or Police Security levels to meet operational requirements (no caveats).
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users and articulate clearly to all project stakeholders.
- High‑quality report writing skills, with proper grammar, clear structure, logical flow, accurate data, and ease of reading.
- Organised and structured approach to project documentation and artefacts.
- Able to extract key information and formulate a planned delivery method with attention to detail and quality.
- Exposure to a managed services environment such as hardware support services, service desk services, procurement, etc.
