Job Description:

Manufacturing Systems Manager – Operations / Production Excellence

Location: Clerkenwell (with weekly factory visits)

Important – Please Read Before Applying

This role is not responsible for running day-to-day production output.

We are looking for someone who can design and implement the systems, processes and operating structure behind manufacturing.

You must have experience in:

  • Improving how manufacturing operates (not just managing it)
  • Designing workflows, SOPs and production systems
  • Working in product-based manufacturing environments

Candidates from pure production supervision, planning or coordination roles are unlikely to be suitable.

The Opportunity

Broadreach Recruitment is supporting a growing design-led manufacturing business in the appointment of a Manufacturing Systems Manager.

This role is focused on building the operating system for production — ensuring the factory runs with structure, consistency and scalability.

You’ll work closely with production leadership but focus on how work gets done, not just output.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and implementing production systems and workflows
  • Creating the operating rhythm for manufacturing (planning, reporting, cadence)
  • Developing SOPs and structured processes
  • Driving lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identifying and removing bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Improving throughput, quality and repeatability
  • Supporting production teams with structure, tools and clarity
  • Working cross-functionally with operations, procurement and supply chain

Shop Floor Involvement

  • Weekly presence in the factory
  • Observing processes and identifying improvements
  • Working directly with teams to implement change

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience in manufacturing / operations improvement / CI roles
  • Background in building or interiors product-based manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of lean, process design and production systems
  • Experience building SOPs and structured workflows

About You

  • Systems thinker — you improve how things work
  • Structured, organised and process-driven
  • Comfortable working between office and factory environments
  • Hands‑on enough to gain credibility on the shop floor
  • Able to bring order and clarity to complex operations

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to design and build a manufacturing operating system
  • High level of ownership and impact
  • Work in a growing, design-led business
  • Blend of strategic thinking and practical implementation
