You will join the Legal Team of a leading global financial services firm, supporting its EU-based Investment Firm entity on all legal and regulatory matters. Deep expertise in the following frameworks and their cross-border interaction is essential:

  • Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID)
  • Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR)
  • Investment Firms Regulation and Directive (IFR/IFD)
  • Regulation on Market Abuse (MAR)
  • Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA)

The role has a strong focus on financial instruments (including derivatives), covering regulatory access requirements, disclosures, and trade flows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance of the Investment Firm license and passporting under MiFID and applicable regulations.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of crypto asset service provider authorisation under MiCA.
  • Assist with ongoing MiCA compliance across the enterprise, delivering projects under high-priority deadlines.
  • Draft, review, and update policies, procedures, terms and conditions, and trading rules for MiFID-regulated products.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating equivalent documentation for MiCA-regulated products.
  • Represent the firm and lead regulatory communications with NCAs, ESMA, and other relevant authorities.
  • Review marketing and sales materials, presentations, and educational content for MiFID and MiCA compliance.
  • Coordinate with external counsel to ensure compliance across all operating jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with 5–10 years of experience in financial product legal and regulatory work for MiFID-regulated clients, gained at a major law firm or licensed MiFID entity.
  • Excellent knowledge of EU financial law (MiFID, EMIR, IFR/IFD, MAR, etc.) with a track record of license maintenance under these frameworks.
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
  • Experience implementing EU markets and traditional finance rules on a cross-border basis, including with the U.S.
  • Familiarity with MiCA and willingness to collaborate across the broader legal team on this evolving framework.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills; able to manage high volume and competing priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to accommodate calls and meetings across time zones.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and proposing practical solutions.
