Role Description
This is a senior leadership position with full accountability for the performance, strategy, and direction of the Building Consultancy business. As Managing Director, you will lead a multi‑disciplinary consultancy team, ensuring high‑quality service delivery across building surveying, cost consultancy, and professional services. You will play a key role in aligning the business with CHPK Group’s wider strategy, while maintaining strong governance, commercial performance, and client engagement. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, commercial acumen, and operational oversight, alongside the ability to represent the business confidently in the market.
Strategic Leadership & Direction
- Setting and leading the strategic direction of Building Consultancy in line with CHPK Group objectives
- Defining priority sectors, client types, and service lines
- Driving sustainable growth through strong market positioning and service excellence
- Ensuring the business remains responsive to regulatory change and evolving client needs
- Representing the division at Group level, contributing to wider strategic decisions
Operational & Technical Oversight
- Holding accountability for the quality, consistency, and governance of service delivery
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards, regulations, and best practice
- Providing oversight on complex, high‑risk or high‑profile projects
- Maintaining robust procedures, quality assurance processes, and technical standards
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence
Commercial & Financial Performance
- Owning the commercial performance and profitability of the division
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with Group Finance
- Ensuring strong fee proposals, cost control, and resource utilisation
- Monitoring performance against financial and operational targets
- Supporting long‑term investment and growth planning
People Leadership & Development
- Leading, developing and inspiring senior leaders and wider teams
- Creating a high‑performing, collaborative and inclusive culture
- Supporting talent development, succession planning and retention
- Championing professional development pathways, including APC and chartership
- Promoting wellbeing, accountability and high professional standards
Client & Market Engagement
- Acting as a senior ambassador for CHPK Group
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders
- Supporting business development, bids and strategic opportunities
- Enhancing market presence and reputation through leadership and expertise
- Embedding a strong client‑focused culture across the business
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory and professional obligations
- Maintaining strong governance frameworks across risk, quality and compliance
- Promoting ethical conduct, transparency and accountability
- Working closely with Group leadership to manage risk and uphold standards
Experience
- Extensive leadership experience within building surveying, cost consultancy, or professional services
- Proven track record of leading and growing a consultancy or service line
- Strong understanding of the commercial property sector and consultancy delivery models
- Experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams in a complex environment
Qualifications
- Chartered professional (e.g. MRICS / FRICS or equivalent)
