GI Group are seeking an experienced Estates professional for our public sector client in Rotherham.

If you’re passionate about shaping the “look and feel” of a vibrant college campus and leading meaningful environmental change, this could be the role for you. You’ll take day-to-day responsibility for the college estate, while also leading on Environment & Sustainability across the wider Group and helping to drive their journey to Net Zero.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the operation, maintenance and presentation of the Rotherham College campus.
  • Act as Group Lead for Environment & Sustainability, developing and delivering our decarbonisation plan in line with the DfE Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy.
  • Oversee waste management and recycling across campuses, focusing on landfill diversion and ISO 14001-aligned processes.
  • Manage environmental data to support statutory reporting on utilities and carbon impact.
  • Lead the Rotherham estates team, including recruitment, performance and training.
  • Plan and deliver maintenance and capital works programmes.
  • Maintain compliance (statutory testing, COSHH, hazardous waste) and manage the Estates Compliance Register.
  • Lead on emergency procedures, including lockdown testing and PEEPs.
  • Oversee contractors and work closely with Health & Safety and Security to deliver a safe, efficient estates function.

You’ll have

  • Substantial estates/facilities management experience, ideally in education.
  • Managed large, diverse teams and developed/implemented policies and procedures.
  • Confidence conducting audits and inspections to keep the site safe and fit for learning.
  • Experience of sustainability and environmental initiatives, including working with internal and external stakeholders and SLAs.
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths.
  • A facilities management qualification and confidence using Microsoft Windows, Office 365 and internal systems.
  • Environment & Sustainability qualification (or willingness to work towards one – support will be provided).
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (employer contributions 17.7%–23.68%).
