Job Overview
Applications are invited for a full-time Consultant Immunologist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. The post is based primarily at Frimley Park Hospital, with some sessions outside the main site. The postholder will help develop the service in allergy, immunodeficiency, and laboratory immunology.
Responsibilities
- Undertake outpatient clinics in allergy and clinical immunology
- Work with clinical and laboratory colleagues to maintain and develop the immunopathology service
- Participate in the training of resident doctors and nursing team
- Participate in research and development
- Undertake appropriate administrative responsibilities within the department and Trusts as agreed with the Specialty Lead and relevant Chief of Services
- Cover other colleagues during annual and study leave
- Participate in audit and continuing professional development (CPD)
- Participate in the Trust’s appraisal scheme for medical staff
Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- MRCP or equivalent
- FRCPath or equivalent
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- UK trained applicants must be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
Desirable
- Additional postgraduate qualification such as MSc, MD or PhD
Experience and Skills
Essential
- Relevant and up-to-date experience in the practice of Allergy and Immunology
- Clinical experience sufficient to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients on an out-patient basis
- Experience in multi-disciplinary clinical audit
- Knowledge of principal components and involvement of consultant staff in NHS management
- Experience of and willingness to participate in teaching at junior medical, nursing and BMS level
- Experience of research
- Ability to communicate effectively with clinical, scientific, technical and administrative staff
- Flexibility and willingness to participate in and contribute to team working and service delivery
- Ability to travel between sites

- Experience of business case preparation
- Specific management training
- Active participation in appropriate professional bodies
- Intention to develop or continue a research interest
- Evidence of publications
- Capacity to motivate, delegate and lead
