Position Summary


Magellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer.



  • Full Time Permanent Contract

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm / Friday 7:30am – 1:30pm

  • Job location: Blackpool Business Park, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RP

Essential Responsibilities



  • Carry out all instructions as provided by the Operations Manager whilst ensuring maintenance targets as defined are met.

  • Perform daily checks on plant & machinery, recording data in log to ensure they are fit for purpose.

  • Ensure contract servicing of essential machinery is in place and carried out according to the service schedules.

  • Undertake routine servicing of equipment/machinery according to preventative maintenance schedules.

  • React to machine breakdowns in a timely fashion according to the maintenance schedule as provided by the Production Team; problem‑solve causes of breakdown and decide appropriate course of action to resolve the issue safely and promptly.

  • Requisition required spares from suitable suppliers in line with department procedures and to the approval of the Operations Manager.

  • Ensure the Health and Safety of self and others within the department and work according to company standards; report identified hazards directly to the Operations Manager and Health & Safety Specialist.

  • Develop and train other members within the team as requested; train operators on correct start‑up and shutdown procedures for all machinery.

  • Co‑ordinate the layout and siting of factory equipment to provide improved workflow areas as requested, including moving and re‑commissioning of machines as required.

  • Take part in risk assessments relating to the operation and upkeep of process machinery and site infrastructure; actively participate in external third‑party audits for equipment and machinery.

  • Build good working relationships with other functions of the business, both internally and externally, to ensure business requirements are achieved through collaboration and a consistent approach.

  • Proactively maintain functional knowledge by keeping up to date with current and developing processes; fulfil training programmes deemed necessary to allow efficient performance of duties and assist in personal development.

  • Positively support teamwork and circulation of experience within the workforce.

  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures, including risk assessments for working areas and work in a safe and diligent manner at all times; report and log any Health & Safety incidents that occur.

  • Support relevant MOS requirements and actively contribute to any 6S activities on site whilst maintaining good housekeeping in the work area.

  • Undertake additional reasonable duties in line with capabilities as requested by management in support of the business.


Skills & Knowledge Requirements



  • Academic:

    • Good general education.

    • Recognised engineering background with a minimum of City and Guilds, ONC, HNC, NVQ in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.



  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years hands‑on experience in a maintenance environment.

    • Machining industry experience would be a benefit but not essential.

    • Knowledge of relevant HS&E legislation.



  • Desirable Criteria:

    • Detailed knowledge of other maintenance activities such as electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.

    • Experience and/or exposure plus a general interest in Aerospace Manufacturing or a similar regulated industry.

    • Knowledge of Siemens and Fanuc controlled machines.

    • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.

    • Manual handling knowledge.

    • Crane, FLT, Sling and cherry picker licences desirable but not essential.
