Senior LED Clinical Research Fellow (Gynaecology)

We are inviting applicants for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Gynaecology. Candidates should be highly motivated to undertake a postgraduate degree and they will be expected to register (and self‑fund) an MPhil with the University of Manchester, with the potential to convert this to an MD degree, depending on academic progress. These are also clinical posts and candidates should be at a level expected of an ST3+ trainee. The split between academic and clinical time is 60%/40%. Daytime work will be primarily Gynaecology based, but on‑call duties do include Obstetrics. Candidates who are successful at interview will be expected to apply for Out of Programme Research (OOPR) if they are currently in a training post.

Main duties of the job
- To establish the outcomes of importance to patients and clinicians undertaking endometrial cancer clinical research.
- To describe the use of primary cytoreductive surgery and neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery for advanced endometrial cancer across the UK.
- To compare survival outcomes for primary cytoreductive surgery and neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery for the treatment of advanced endometrial cancer across different molecular subgroups.
The Clinical Research Fellow will be supervised by a team of consultants. The Clinical Research Fellow will need to respect the roles of others within a multidisciplinary team and communicate with them appropriately.
The weekly timetable will vary from week to week. The clinical component may include sessions in outpatients, theatre and ward rounds, or other specialist sessions. Research days are usually fixed.

Qualifications
- Medical Degree
- MRCOG Part 1
- Completion of Foundation competencies (UK Foundation programme or demonstration of equivalent training)
- Completion of all ST2 competencies as per RCOG Curriculum
- Full registration with the General Medical Council and licensed to practice
- Familiarity with UK health system and NHS
- Basic Adult Life Support training within previous 12 months
- MRCOG Part 2 & 3
- At least 1 year experience working at middle grade (ST3+) in UK post
- At least 2 years experience working in UK post
