As a Traffic Engineer you will deliver engineering projects, shaping highways to elevate road safety and sustainable travel. You will manage and deliver traffic engineering projects from design to procurement and construction, produce designs and contract documents that comply with standards and guidelines, and commit to road safety and sustainability.
Responsibilities
You will design and supervise the production of engineering solutions for both urban and rural environments, improving road safety and infrastructure for walking, cycling and buses. You will apply relevant standards, innovate, and deliver cost‑effective solutions. As required, you may serve as site supervisor or NEC4 Project Manager during the construction phase, ensuring health and safety regulations, including CDM Regulations 2015, are applied to all projects. You will build and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and stakeholders so that council and project objectives are met.
Qualifications & Skills
You should have substantial experience in highway and traffic engineering projects that improve sustainable travel, including design of cycling infrastructure in accordance with current standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other technical design software is required. You should be experienced in producing contract documents, working with contractors, and applying CDM Regulations 2015. Strong project programming and resource management skills, a track record of effective stakeholder collaboration, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines are essential. Additional Information
The council is not currently able to offer sponsorship in this role. Candidates will need to have the right to work that enables them to commit to at least 6 months’ employment. Right to work is not transferable from a sponsored role held with another employer.
