We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Officer to join our team and play a vital role in undertaking statutory work relating to the production and maintenance of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children/yp aged 0-25 with severe and complex SEN working closely with children, parents/carers, education, social care and health professionals, to ensure educational needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Manage statutory SEN processes for an allocated caseload to include statutory assessment, the production of EHC Plans, Annual Reviews relating to EHC Plans
- manage complex and challenging casework relating to all matters arising with the provision and placement for children/yp with EHCPs.
- support the Local Authority (LA) implementation of SEN legislation, including the improvement and quality of EHCPs and the development of the local offer.
- provide advice and guidance to schools/colleges about the duties under the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and SEN funding.
- ensure that the LA fulfils its statutory duties in relation to children and young people with EHCPs.
- manage the statutory assessment and annual review processes for an allocated caseload, including the production of high quality EHCPs.
- represent the LA at Annual Reviews; to ensure compliance with statutory processes, to ensure children/yp are making good progress and to support matters relating to complex and challenging casework.
- support casework around Tribunals
- develop positive working relationships with colleagues across the council and partner agencies, to ensure the appropriate support and placements are secured for children/yp.
