Job Overview

Senior Structural Engineer responsible for bridge maintenance designs and related tasks across the Shropshire Professional Service Contract with Shropshire Council. Based from WSP Shrewsbury office, with flexible and hybrid working arrangements; potential site in Birmingham with travel to Shropshire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bridge maintenance designs, including scheme investigations, feasibility studies, detailed design, tender input, site inspections and construction supervision and assessment.
  • Inspect structures to DMRB and the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
  • Provide technical input on project briefs, proposals and deliverables with Project Managers.
  • Carry out checking, certifying (AIP’s) and authorising designs, documents and reports.
  • Manage delivery of technical outputs of project teams.
  • Demonstrate compliance with Health, Safety and Welfare and CDM responsibilities.
  • Be an active and collaborative team member, working with other disciplines and the Client team.
  • Contribute to technical excellence and innovation within the team.
  • Potential for line management and mentoring opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Full Member of relevant professional body, CEng or IEng, or supporting evidence for advanced application.
  • Experience as a Structural Engineer with focus on bridges and other highway structures.
  • Evidence of independent responsibility for delivering complex projects.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively and innovating.
