Job Description:

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Technology is becoming a more central part of every deal we work on – not just as a diligence topic, but as a driver of cost, complexity, and value across integration and separation. We are continuing to build out our Technology M&A capability to meet that demand. This role is about bringing in someone who can take ownership of that work – leading technology workstreams on engagements, working directly with clients, and contributing to how we continue to develop the capability. There is a real opportunity here to shape how Technology M&A is delivered within the firm – not just executing work, but influencing how we approach it, how we engage with clients, and how the capability grows over time.

THE PERSON

  • You’ve done Technology M&A work properly – responsible for it, not just supporting it.
  • You can sit across from a CIO or CFO and have a real conversation, challenging where needed and forming a view.
  • You don’t think of technology in silos – infrastructure, applications, data, security – and understand how it fits together to ask the right questions in a deal context.
  • You are comfortable in the detail; this is not a review role. You build analysis yourself and understand cost structures, contracts, one-off costs, and separation or integration complexity.
  • You bring an opinion and challenge incorrect client assumptions constructively.
  • You move work forward without waiting – work through ambiguity and progress with a point of view.
  • You’re straightforward, avoiding consulting jargon, and explain complex technology issues in a clear way.
  • You keep up with how technology changes in practice, thinking about future direction.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE BEFORE

  • Must-have: Worked on live transactions – data rooms, management discussions, analysis that informed decisions.
  • Must-have: Led or owned parts of Technology M&A workstreams – integration and separation contexts.
  • Must-have: Experience analysing technology cost bases and forming a view on changes post-deal.
  • Must-have: Exposed to financial concepts – modelling, cost analysis, valuation inputs – and able to engage from a technology perspective.
  • Strongly preferred: Worked across more than one phase of the deal lifecycle – due diligence, integration, separation, value creation.
  • Helpful: Worked across different sectors or quickly adapt to new ones.

GETTING STARTED / ROLE

You’ll be expected to contribute immediately, leading Technology M&A workstreams on live engagements. From early on you’ll be structuring work, delivering outputs, and working directly with clients. You’ll manage multiple engagements – from fast‑paced due diligence to longer integration or separation programmes. Ownership is key; you are responsible for the technology workstream.

You will:

  • Lead Technology M&A workstreams end-to-end across deals.
  • Work directly with senior client stakeholders (CIO, CFO, C-suite).
  • Analyse and interpret technology environments, costs, and risks.
  • Form views on integration and separation approaches.
  • Contribute to proposals and client discussions where required.
  • Help shape and develop the firm’s Technology M&A capability over time.

If you’ve done Technology M&A work within a Big 4 or large consulting firm, are comfortable leading from front and want a role where you’re trusted to own work rather than support it – apply today!
