Overview

XQ Technical are supporting a high-performance engineering organisation within the motorsport sector that is seeking an experienced Composite Design Engineer to support a busy and technically demanding programme.

This is an initial three-month contract assignment, focused on supporting the design and development of complex composite components within a fast-paced engineering environment. The successful candidate will be working on highly detailed structural and performance-critical parts, requiring strong CAD capability and a solid understanding of composite design methodologies.

The position would suit someone comfortable operating within a rapid development cycle, where designs move quickly from concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex composite components using Siemens NX
  • Work closely with stress, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and structurally robust
  • Produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings to a high engineering standard
  • Support ongoing design updates, iterations, and problem-solving throughout the programme lifecycle
  • Ensure components meet performance, weight, and manufacturing requirements

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Composite Design Engineer within motorsport or high-performance engineering
  • Strong capability using Siemens NX
  • Experience designing complex composite structures and components
  • Good understanding of composite materials, laminate strategies, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately within a fast-paced development environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams
