A leading and rapidly expanding investment business is seeking a Head of Risk to play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing its UK risk strategy. With a large and growing retail client base and ambitious expansion plans, this is a high-impact leadership role where you will influence decision-making, strengthen governance, and help the business navigate an evolving regulatory landscape.

You will operate as a senior, independent voice on risk, partnering closely with business leadership while maintaining robust second-line oversight across a broad range of non-financial risk areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver a forward-looking risk strategy aligned to business growth and transformation plans
  • Provide independent oversight and challenge across key risk areas, ensuring effective controls and governance frameworks are in place
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering clear and pragmatic risk guidance on strategic initiatives
  • Build and lead a high-performing risk team, fostering a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Strengthen risk frameworks, policies, and reporting to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practice
  • Drive risk identification and assessment processes, including emerging risk themes and horizon scanning
  • Oversee risk reporting to executive and board-level forums, delivering clear, concise, and actionable insights
  • Support regulatory engagement, ensuring readiness for reviews, audits, and supervisory interactions
  • Collaborate with first-line teams and central functions (e.g. security, resilience, third-party risk) to embed effective risk management across the organisation

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience in risk leadership within financial services, ideally in wealth, investments, or digital platforms
  • Strong understanding of non-financial risk frameworks, governance, and regulatory expectations in the UK
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a second-line capacity, balancing independence with commercial awareness
  • Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing at executive level
  • Demonstrated track record of building and leading teams in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to simplify complex risk topics into clear recommendations

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to take on a visible and influential leadership role within a business that is scaling quickly and investing heavily in its risk capability. You’ll have the platform to shape strategy, build a strong risk culture, and make a tangible impact on how risk is managed across the organisation.
