Monday to Friday, 28-36 hours per week, with flexible, hybrid working.
Holiday: 22 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays).
About the Senior Accountant Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in either the Colchester or Clacton-on-Sea office. We are open to full-time candidates (36 hours per week) or part-time candidates (minimum of 28 hours per week over 4 days). Candidates should be AAT/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a practice environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing accounts for clients (limited companies, sold traders, partnerships, LLLPs, charities and groups)
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and delivering a consistently high standard of service
- Managing your own workload to ensure assignments are completed accurately, on time and within budget
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns and assisting with tax compliance where required
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations and industry developments
- Adopting a hands‑on approach as needed to support the wider team and ensure deadlines are met
About You
- AAT/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a practice environment
- Knowledge of tax, audit & payroll is advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Great attention to detail along with strong organisational skills
- Pro‑active, self‑starter, with a positive attitude
