Employment Lawyer – Interim

A modern, growing UK law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its Reading office on an interim basis. This is a 3–6 month contract supporting a busy regional team with a broad mix of advisory, contentious and corporate support work.

Workload

  • Around 40% non-contentious advisory
  • Around 40% contentious (including tribunal matters)
  • Around 20% corporate support on transactions

You’ll step into an established team and take on a varied caseload, including:

  • Advising employers on recruitment, discrimination, grievances, disciplinaries, sickness absence, parental rights and contract issues
  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies and handbooks
  • Handling settlement agreements for both employers and senior individuals
  • Managing tribunal matters end-to-end, including pleadings, disclosure, witness statements, liaison with Counsel and preparation for hearings
  • Supporting corporate colleagues on transactions (TUPE, indemnities, warranties, due diligence)
  • Providing pragmatic day‑to‑day guidance to clients on strategic employment issues

We are looking for an experienced Employment Lawyer (ideally 6PQE+) with strong technical ability across both contentious and non‑contentious work. Someone who is comfortable picking up matters quickly and working with autonomy. Previous exposure to corporate support/TUPE is helpful and a confident communicator who can work directly with partners and clients.

This is a genuinely interesting caseload spanning advisory, disputes and transactional support working with a respected regional team within a growing UK firm.
