Role Summary
As a BIM Technician on the Yorkshire Water framework, you’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities – enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems. You will play a pivotal role in delivering BIM and Digital outputs throughout the lifecycle of various projects from concept design to commissioning, ensuring that all BIM aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver CAD/BIM design data and undertake quality control processes, contributing to the development of the CAD/BIM standards.
- Use 3D modelling to support design collaboration, clash resolution, asset data capture, digital rehearsal and cost capture.
- Support the development of the common data environment platform and process (Autodesk BIM 360).
- Create and develop a standardised BIM element library to support model reuse and a production approach, including identifying affordable and low‑carbon solutions.
- Take responsibility for cyber‑security aspects associated with CAD/BIM data and access.
- Validate CAD/BIM models from suppliers and integrate them into our models.
- Work with designers to manage the competing tensions of time, cost and quality.
- Manage safety, wellbeing, environmental and sustainability aspects within your BIM/CAD output.
- Support project teams in understanding BIM and, where appropriate, supervise less experienced BIM technicians, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development.
What You’ll Need
- Recognised qualification in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), BIM or a related field.
- Proficiency in Revit.
- Knowledge of water, wastewater or infrastructure projects.
- Experience authoring 3D models in a common data environment platform (Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360).
- Understanding of working in a common data environment platform and managing BIM data throughout the project lifecycle.
- Understanding of key principles of information management as set out in ISO 19650.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Proficient in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
