Solicitor – Crime / Regulatory – Merthyr Tydfil – Duty Solicitor

Location: Merthyr Tydfil (with paid travel to courts and police stations)

Type of Role: Permanent, Full time

Salary: £35,000 to £50,000 (depending on experience)

A well established regional law firm is seeking a Criminal Duty Solicitor to join its busy and growing Crime/Regulatory team. With multiple offices across South Wales and a strong reputation for delivering accessible, community focused legal services, this is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who wants to make a meaningful impact while developing their career within a supportive and ambitious environment.

The Role

You will take ownership of a varied and hands on caseload, representing clients at all stages of the criminal justice process. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a diverse and busy criminal caseload
  • Providing representation at police stations and courts (with paid travel)
  • Delivering high quality, client focused advice and advocacy
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider firm
  • Contributing to the continued development of the Crime/Regulatory team

Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a qualified solicitor who:

  • Is a Criminal Duty Solicitor (or working towards accreditation)
  • Has experience across the full spectrum of criminal matters
  • Demonstrates strong advocacy, communication and client care skills
  • Is confident managing a fast paced caseload independently
  • Is organised, proactive and committed to delivering high quality legal services
  • Shares a commitment to access to justice and community impact
