Engineer – Identity & Access Management (IAM)

London

The role

We’re looking for an IAM Engineer in the Identity & Access Management Team within our Infrastructure & Operations Group who are focused on delivering the best possible infrastructure to our end users and the FT as a whole. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers in all Product and Tech teams, as well as product managers, project managers, delivery managers, and third‑party suppliers and vendors to design, build and support scalable IAM solutions that allow secure, resilient and manageable access to FT Services and Data.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver continual service improvement of all IAM services and troubleshoot problem areas as required.
  • Provide in‑depth support to support and project teams, proactively managing and administering IAM systems such as Okta, Entra, and Active Directory.
  • Maintain user accounts, directory sync, Okta groups, administration roles, Okta workflows, SAML 2.0 integrations (SSO, OIDC), attribute mappings, and other IAM configurations.
  • Design and implement OU structures, permissions, and manage active directory configurations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across product, technology, and delivery teams.
  • Diagnose issues across code, test, and environment, demonstrating analytical skills.
  • Communicate clearly across product and technology teams and to different stakeholders and audiences.
  • Maintain a passion for delivering excellence and demonstrate self‑management and ownership of technical issues.
  • Use Agile methodologies—including Jira, sprints, retrospectives, and planning—to manage work.
  • Monitor and alert using tools such as Grafana and Splunk; automate processes where appropriate.
  • Apply scripting skills in PowerShell and shell; optionally use Visual Studio, Github, and Zapier.

We don’t expect candidates to meet every requirement listed above. If you have a willingness to learn and are collaborative we encourage you to apply.

This role is an opportunity to develop the skills you already have in a supportive environment, working alongside experienced engineers across the FT Product and Tech teams. This role is targeting Engineer level, but we are open to candidates looking to grow into the role with the right support, mentorship and opportunity to develop platform engineering skills.

25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days after 2 years’ service.
