Senior Pharmacist – Cancer Services

Wye Valley NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Pharmacist to lead and deliver high‑quality clinical pharmacy services within Cancer Services. The post holder will work closely with oncology and haematology multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines use, support safe and effective systemic anti‑cancer therapy, contribute to clinical governance, audit and service development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the pharmacy service provided to the Cancer Services directorate.
• Work closely with consultant workforce, lead and specialist nurses, and other staff members associated with the pharmacy service to the Cancer Services directorate.
• Coordinate pharmacy clinical services to the directorate, oversee and investigate medicines‑related safety incidents, and monitor financial and clinical governance.
• Lead on evidence‑based prescribing advice to ensure effective, appropriate, sustainable, cost‑effective and safe use of medicines, and promote patient‑centred care for all patients.
• Develop and lead guidelines for prescribing, administration and storage of cancer‑related medicines to facilitate good practice within the Cancer Services directorate, the Acute Trust and across the primary and secondary care interface.
• Provide training and education to all levels of healthcare professionals in acute and primary care, linking into national networks to learn about developments and share across the network.
• Be involved in the operational delivery of the clinical pharmacy service at Wye Valley NHS Trust and serve as a role model to junior pharmacy staff, supporting their development.
• Support 7‑day clinical services to the Trust on a rotational weekend, public holiday and on‑call (EDC) rota basis.
