A well-established accountancy practice is looking to strengthen its indirect tax team with the appointment of a VAT Senior Manager – Advisory. This is a visible role within the business, offering the chance to work closely with senior leadership while delivering high-level VAT advice to a varied client portfolio.
Based in Leeds with hybrid flexibility, the role combines technical advisory work with commercial involvement and team development responsibilities.
The role
As VAT Senior Manager – Advisory, you’ll lead on complex advisory projects while supporting the continued growth of the VAT function within the wider practice. You’ll work with clients across multiple sectors, collaborating with other specialist teams to provide joined-up advice and commercially focused solutions.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering tailored VAT advisory support across a diverse client portfolio
- Leading on complex projects including partial exemption, international VAT matters, and VAT structuring
- Acting as a trusted advisor and developing long-term client relationships
- Supporting business development activity and identifying opportunities for growth
- Working closely with corporate tax, audit, and other service lines to provide integrated advice
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the VAT offering within the accountancy practice
What we’re looking for
- Strong VAT advisory experience gained within an accountancy practice
- Comfortable managing technically complex matters with a practical, client-focused approach
- Commercially aware and interested in supporting wider business growth
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders confidently
- Previous experience mentoring or managing junior team members
- ACA, CTA or equivalent qualification would be advantageous
