Senior Legal Counsel – Insurance / Lloyd’s Market- 9 month FTC

London | Hybrid | Global remit

We are working with a leading global insurance organisation seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Legal, Risk & Compliance team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance lawyer (5+ PQE) with strong London Market and Lloyd’s experience, as well as European insurance law exposure, to act as a trusted legal advisor across a broad range of business areas including underwriting, product development, distribution and strategic projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on (re)insurance law, policy wordings and delegation/distribution agreements
  • Supporting commercial and product teams on governance and regulatory considerations for new products and emerging risks
  • Negotiating Lloyd’s and company market contracts across property, casualty and specialty lines
  • Providing legal support on European regulatory and cross-border insurance matters
  • Advising on strategic initiatives, regulatory issues and complex commercial agreements
  • Working closely with underwriting, claims, compliance and senior stakeholders across international teams
  • Delivering training, templates and legal guidance to support business operations

About you:

  • England & Wales qualified lawyer with 5+ years PQE
  • Strong insurance / reinsurance experience from private practice and/or in-house
  • Experience within the London Market or a Lloyd’s Managing Agent
  • Experience advising on European insurance law or cross-border regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
