Head of NMAHP Clinical Research Delivery

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a leading NHS teaching trust, providing a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and serving as a base for medical education, training, and research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and clinical advice and leadership to all NMAHP research delivery teams, including NIHR, RDN, commercially funded and Trust-wide teams, ensuring the provision of safe, evidence‑based care and adherence to research protocols within agreed quality and financial frameworks. Act as a point‑of‑contact for professional matters relating to clinical research delivery practice, including honorary contracts.
  • Use specialist expertise to support the professional development of all NMAHP research staff and practitioners across the Trust, enabling a sustained and flexible workforce with the capacity, capability and skills required to deliver safe, high‑quality research outcomes.
  • Ensure appropriate frameworks for guidance, clinical governance, competency assessment and continuing education are in place for all NMAHP research delivery staff.
  • Work alongside the Trust senior leadership team to guide and support research leadership teams in the transformation of the workforce, developing an NMAHP workforce that meets the Trust and NMAHP strategic plan.
  • Support and champion the integration of clinical research across all areas of the Trust, ensuring all patients have access to research during their clinical visits.
  • Promote connections and joint working between NMAHP research delivery teams, direct‑care teams and health professionals across the Trust with academic researchers, R&D, the Joint Research Office (JRO), the RDN and the wider NIHR community both locally and nationally.
  • Work alongside Divisional nurses and Divisional Leads for NMAHP research and innovation to support continuous improvement of services and facilities for NMAHP staff and patients involved in clinical research, supporting evidence for the CQC well‑led framework.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse, Midwife or Allied Health Professional with current and valid NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant health‑related subject and a management/leadership qualification or recognised teaching qualification.
  • Current ICH Good Clinical Practice certification.
  • Experience of collaborative working with Higher Education Institutions.

Salary

£79,504 to £91,609 per annum, pro‑rata.
