Business Development Director – Technical Services / Facilities Management

Hybrid – Thames Valley / West London (with travel)

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading provider of hard facilities management and technical engineering solutions, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across commercial offices, residential, retail, healthcare, education, and hospitality sectors.

With a strong reputation for quality delivery and long-term partnerships, the business is now seeking a Business Development Director to drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and build strategic client relationships.

This is a senior leadership role with real influence—both within the business and across a wider group structure.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of new business performance and lead a multi-disciplinary team across business development, bidding, and marketing.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing growth strategy, developing key client relationships, and securing high-value contracts across both public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business across service, maintenance, and project streams
  • Own and deliver against revenue targets
  • Identify, develop, and convert strategic opportunities
  • Lead on complex bids and tender submissions
  • Represent the business at industry events and networking forums
  • Build and maintain a strong industry network
  • Develop and manage senior-level client relationships
  • Create and execute account growth strategies
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure alignment and delivery
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team across BD, marketing, and bidding
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture
  • Promote best practice and continuous improvement
  • Monitor pipeline performance and conversion metricsImprove win rates through insight and analysis
  • Stay ahead of market trends and competitor activity

About You

You’ll be a strategic and commercially astute leader, comfortable operating at both board and operational level.

Experience & Expertise

  • Strong background in facilities management or technical services (hard FM preferred)
  • Proven success in winning high-value contracts across public and private sectors
  • Experience managing complex tenders and procurement processes
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams
