Consultant Haematologist – Myeloma – NHS Foundation Trust, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (Liverpool). Fixed term 12 months (or until the postholder returns from maternity leave), full‑time (10 sessions per week, plus 0.5 on‑call).

Main Duties

  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient haematology services with a focus on myeloma across the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and the Aintree site.
  • Take responsibility for clinical trials and research activities.
  • Lead and contribute to a high‑quality, integrated haematology service across sites.
  • Provide teaching, mentorship and research opportunities for junior doctors and staff.
  • Participate in on‑call commitments based at Clatterbridge, with a first‑call system.

Qualifications

  • Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practice, or eligibility for registration within six months of interview.
  • Evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT for non‑UK trained applicants.
  • FRCPath or equivalent, and MRCP or equivalent.
  • Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award.
  • Higher degree (PhD or MD via thesis).
  • Relevant certificate in communication and experience in CAR‑T centre delivery.

Knowledge

  • Clinical and laboratory haematology experience.
  • Expertise in diagnosing haematological malignancy.
  • Experience in clinical audit.

Experience

  • Managing and leading clinical teams.
  • Service improvement evidence.
  • Collaborative work across clinical network groups.
  • Clinical pathway development.
  • Budget management.

Teaching Experience

  • Ability to teach all grades of clinical and laboratory staff.
  • Experience teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates.
  • Supervision of medical trainees and delivery of examination‑focused teaching.
  • Accreditation or formal training in medical education.
  • Involvement in postgraduate examinations.

Research Experience

  • Governance arrangements for research and clinical trials.
  • Clinical research experience.
