Project Manager – United Utilities / Civils

A well-established National Tier 2 Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its North West division working on projects across the United Utilities & Cumbria region. The role will lead the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of United Utilities water infrastructure schemes across the region.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the safe and successful delivery of multiple water infrastructure projects from pre‑construction through to completion
  • Managing site teams including Site Managers, Engineers, Foremen, Operatives, and specialist subcontractors
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Developing and maintaining project programmes, resource plans, and cost controls
  • Managing procurement of subcontractors, plant, labour, and materials
  • Leading progress meetings with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Implementing and enforcing Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures across all sites
  • Reviewing RAMS, construction methodologies, and temporary works requirements
  • Producing and presenting regular progress reports, forecasts, and commercial updates
  • Building strong working relationships with United Utilities representatives and key stakeholders
  • Driving performance, productivity, and continuous improvement across the project portfolio

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on Civil Engineering or Water Infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in shaft sinking, micro tunnelling, deep drainage, and reinforced concrete structures
  • Experience working on United Utilities or similar water authority frameworks is highly desirable
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS Black Card
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and programmes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple sites across the North West region
  • Full UK Driving Licence
