Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional care to clients and patients each day.
- Deal with client complaints and concerns raised in the clinic; provide updates on patient care following procedures.
- For out of hours (OOH) or enhanced care, update clients regarding patient care and wellbeing.
- Carry out consultations and procedures; be accountable for patient care and monitoring.
- Manage admissions and discharges for procedures (depending on complexity); ensure patient records are accurate and up to date.
- Complete clinical handovers and arrange transfer of patients requiring OOH or enhanced care.
- Prescribe medications and conduct dispensing checks; carry out all patient care under the guidance of the vet/lead vet in line with clinical competence.
Clinical Standards and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, practice, and standard operating procedures in the practice.
- Implement health and safety requirements and regulatory standards for veterinary and nursing practice.
Commercial Performance
- Prepare accurate estimates and costs for clients and ensure payment at the time of the procedure.
- Minimise debt and support plans to address client issues; maximise capacity through effective use of clinical skills.
Communications
- Hold engaging clinical meetings with veterinary and nursing teams as required.
Clinical Leadership
- Support and undertake colleague clinical mentoring/development as required.
- Share clinical best practice within and across clinics and the wider Medivet community.
- Mentor graduates within the clinic; nurses and head nurses coach the nursing team.
Clinical Administration
- Ensure lab tests are carried out correctly; escalate issues to the Practice Manager as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Must be an RCVS registered vet surgeon.
- Demonstrable clinical leadership skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience delivering exceptional clinical care to clients and patients; supports nurse consults and understands how this contributes to clinic performance.
- Experience using coaching and influencing skills with colleagues.
Working Arrangements
Weekly working hours: 40 hours. 10-hour shifts with lunch; 1 day off per week. 1 in 6 weekends in Camberwell 24-hour shifts (Saturday and Sunday). 2 Bank Holiday shifts per year. On-call once to twice a year. An ERS shift to be worked as part of the contract.
