Overview

Working for a large manufacturing business we now require an Engineering Manager to join and lead the Engineering function of the business. As the Site Engineering Manager you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for all things Engineering – budgets, projects and site maintenance. You will be supported by a Maintenance Manager who will lead the team of Maintenance Engineers.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Establish Maintenance Engineering strategies to achieve production reliability in line with company goals, KPIs and budgetary objectives.
  • Manage all Capital Projects from conception to completion.
  • Environmental control – responsible for dealing with local authorities on environmental and planning issues.
  • Manage the reliability of the plant through the in‑house system ensuring improvement of equipment uptime via predictive analysis and assessment.
  • Own and develop the PPM system ensuring checks and repairs are carried out on time and effectively by shift engineers.
  • Carry out Root Cause Analysis on critical plant issues and suggest engineering solutions for major downtime incidents.
  • Monitor spares for critical equipment to ensure a fast response to breakdowns.
  • Conduct equipment life‑span and obsolescence studies and develop appropriate upgrade/replacement strategies.
  • Promote effective communication between internal and external teams.
  • Maintain a positive Health, Safety and environmental culture in all staff and contractors on site.
  • Coach, mentor and support all team members to optimise their performance.
  • Provide appropriate training and development opportunities for the team.
  • Carry out performance reviews and disciplinary procedures when required.
  • Set and monitor objectives for the team to ensure all KPIs are met.
  • Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.

Qualifications & Desired Experience

  • Previous experience managing and leading a team within a Process Engineering environment, preferably in food.
  • Influential leader with an understanding of the latest maintenance techniques.
  • Strong communication skills to implement and achieve business objectives.
  • Engineering qualification at degree/HND level or equivalent (beneficial).
  • PC literate.

Commutable from Liverpool, Warrington, Southport, Birkenhead and surrounding areas.
