Chief Legal Advisor

Sellick Partnership are delighted to be working with a well‑established local authority in London in their search for Chief Legal Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis. This role requires someone who can work full‑time and attend the office as much as possible (at least 2‑3 days per week).

The responsibilities of the successful Chief Legal Advisor will be to:

• Work alongside the two other Chief Legal Advisors to manage the shared legal practice
• Manage a busy team with diverse legal specialisms
• Advise senior client officers and elected members
• Directly report into the Assistant Director of Legal and Governance and Director of Legal and Governance
• Motivate and help develop the team

Our client is seeking a Chief Legal Advisor who:

• Holds a current practising certificate (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx)
• Has experience from a local authority (advantageous) or other sectors; must be a strong manager with knowledge of public sector governance
• Is able to work at pace and juggle competing priorities
• Has dealt with governance matters previously
• Can attend the offices as and when necessary (usually 2–3 days per week) and attend client meetings/comittees as required
