Overview


Our client, an award-winning rotating equipment repairs workshop, is seeking a Workshop Supervisor for their electrical repairs division. You will report to the Workshop Manager and oversee a team of workshop electrical fitters and other personnel.


Responsibilities



  • Supervise and provide technical support to workshop operatives on the bench and ensure timely clocking.

  • Dismantle and inspect work to ensure nothing is missed.

  • Test motors.

  • Repair motors and rotating equipment, including gearboxes, pumps and generators.

  • Ensure workload is managed in the workshop and that the team maintains a high standard of customer service from start to finish.

  • Progress jobs through the workshop.

  • Check what work is required and order parts.

  • Cover for the Workshop Manager to price up jobs when on annual leave.

  • Ensure parts are ordered.

  • When parts arrive, allocate team members to assemble, test and verify work before dispatch to customers.

  • Ensure correct workshop procedures are carried out on the shop floor.

  • Allocate jobs to operatives and monitor progress, including job times in line with quotations; collaborate with the Purchasing Clerk to progress jobs as parts are received.

  • Monitor and inspect all jobs in progress at key stages and prior to delivery; record all findings.

  • Maintain training records for operatives.

  • Deputise for the Workshop Manager when required and take responsibility for all workshop activity.

  • Manage calibration of measuring equipment.

  • Attend sites as required for costings or site work, in line with workshop workload.

  • Join the on-call team handling out-of-hours calls.


What you will need to apply



  • Experience as a workshop electrical fitter with work across motors including AC and DC machines.

  • Experience repairing rotating equipment from an electrical perspective, including motors, pumps, gearboxes and generators.

  • Right to work in the UK permanently (sponsorship not provided).

  • Located in the Greater Manchester/North West of England area or willing to relocate.

  • Supervisory, management, team leader or senior experience is preferred.

  • Full clean driving licence.

  • Ability to cover shifts on a rota basis.
