Lending Associate / Senior Associate

London, United Kingdom

£70,000–£85,000 + Bonus + Benefits

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly regarded real estate lending platform in a broad, commercially focused role offering exposure across both portfolio management and new loan origination. Working within a high-performing and entrepreneurial team, the successful candidate will gain direct involvement in the execution, management, and structuring of real estate debt transactions while learning alongside experienced senior professionals.

The role has been created with long-term progression in mind and offers a clear pathway toward increased origination and relationship management responsibilities over time. It will suit an ambitious, analytically strong, and personable individual seeking to accelerate their career within a collaborative yet performance-driven environment.

What you’ll do

You will play a key role in the ongoing management of the firm’s loan portfolio, ensuring facilities continue to perform in line with underwriting assumptions and approved lending parameters. This will include monitoring payments and receipts, reviewing valuation and quantity surveyor reports, tracking project performance, and ensuring all loan renewals and amendments are accurately documented and administered.

You will maintain and update the firm’s loan monitoring systems, ensuring drawdowns, sales activity, revised valuations, and changes in loan terms are accurately reflected. The role will also involve analysing and modelling extension or restructuring proposals, preparing extension papers for committee approval, and coordinating the documentation process with legal and internal stakeholders.

Alongside portfolio responsibilities, you will support new loan origination activity across a broad range of real estate-backed opportunities. You will assess new enquiries and proactively help source opportunities through brokers, borrowers, and wider market relationships, while ensuring a consistently high standard of client service and professionalism.

You will analyse and evaluate new lending proposals through detailed financial modelling, sensitivity analysis, and market benchmarking, producing Heads of Terms, deal summaries, and credit papers for investment committee review. The role will also involve coordinating third-party advisers including lawyers, valuers, and quantity surveyors, reviewing transaction documentation, and assisting with completion processes to ensure all approved lending conditions are satisfied.

Beyond transaction activity, you will contribute to wider business initiatives including capital raising support, preparation of marketing materials, and the development of transaction case studies where required.

What you’ll need

  • 2+ years’ experience within a debt fund, real estate lending platform, banking environment, rating agency, or relevant accounting/finance background
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of real estate-backed lending structures and transaction processes
  • Commercially minded with the ability to assess risk, structure transactions, and communicate recommendations effectively
  • Strong academic background, ideally within finance, real estate, economics, or a related discipline
  • Hardworking, proactive, and eager to learn within a demanding but rewarding environment
  • Personable and professional, with strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders and taking ownership of responsibilities
  • Python or broader technical/data analysis skills would be advantageous but are not essential
