We’re on an ambitious journey from great to exceptional and need the best people to help us achieve our potential.

A look into the role

  • Ensure that quality is at the heart of everything you do, consistently doing what’s right rather than what’s easy. Your work has a major impact on clients and the firm.
  • Be responsible for delivering the tax compliance obligations for companies involved in statutory insolvency appointments, liaising with HMRC to ensure efficient and effective compliance.
  • Advise on the tax implications of transactions involving distressed or insolvent companies and support senior members of the team in preparing advisory reports.
  • Be part of a small, specialist tax team that works alongside the national restructuring practice and reports to Associate Directors and Directors. Build strong relationships with tax colleagues and the wider Restructuring and Insolvency teams.
  • Manage the overall tax compliance process for statutory insolvency appointments, ensuring deadlines are met and work prepared by junior team members meets the requisite standard. Prepare tax advisory reports covering distressed transactions, insolvency appointments and debt/equity reorganisation, managing the project from commencement to conclusion.
  • Continue to develop technical knowledge through on-the-job learning and training, particularly in insolvency.

Knowing you’re right for us

The minimum criteria for this role include a relevant professional qualification (CTA, ACA or ACCA), an understanding of the UK corporate tax regime, and strong communication, numeracy and literacy skills. It would be advantageous if you have experience in the following areas, but we can help develop any gaps:

  • Business taxation compliance experience at supervisor or manager level
  • Experience preparing advisory reports
  • Ability to research, understand and apply tax legislation
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the UK insolvency regime
  • Ability to work independently and a strong desire to learn

Knowing we’re right for you

Grant Thornton thrives on the contributions of all people and builds an inclusive culture where we value difference and respect colleagues. Our open and accessible environment means you’ll interact with leaders interested in you and everything you bring to the firm. We encourage you to bring your whole self to work and pursue your passions inside and outside of work.

Beyond the job

Life is more than work. We offer flexible working options and strive to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The impact you can make extends beyond your day-to-day role, from secondments and charitable fundraising to supporting entrepreneurs in the developing world. Our culture is driven by purposefulness, curiosity, candour and kindness.

We’re looking for people who want to contribute, spark fresh ideas and go beyond expectations. People who are proud to do what’s right for the firm, our clients and their own development. It’s how it should be.
