Consultant – Gastroenterology YC72

We are seeking a dynamic, full-time substantive consultant gastroenterologist with a subspecialty interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
You will join a team of fourteen gastroenterologists at West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust who enjoy working together and supporting each other.
Key responsibilities include:
- Independent care of patients with complex IBD
- Leading and participating in IBD MDTs
- Supporting and training IBD nurses
- Fostering close teamwork within the IBD team
- Networking with internal and external providers
- Supporting IBD data collection, audit and databaseImplementing national policies, guidance and local GIRFT recommendations for IBD care
- Maintaining appropriate CPD
- Endoscopy (elective, training and inpatient emergency)
- Outpatient work (clinics, referral vetting, GP advice and guidance)
- Inpatient work (consultant cover for GI ward, ward referrals)
- Weekend work (6 hours on site and emergency endoscopy) 1 in 14
You must be able to travel to all three Trust hospital sites (Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital and St Albans Hospital).
Additional responsibilities include participation in clinical governance, clinical risk management and audit.
Person Specification
- Completed CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine or within 6 months of completion
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice
- MD or PhD
