We’re looking for a commercially focused Transport General Manager to take full ownership of a busy, fast-moving transport and logistics operation in Staffordshire. This is a senior leadership role with real autonomy — ideal for someone who thrives on improving performance, developing teams, and delivering operational excellence across a multi-fleet environment.

You’ll be responsible for leading transport operations end-to-end, ensuring vehicles, people, and processes run efficiently, safely, and profitably while supporting continued business growth.

The Role:

  • Take full operational responsibility for a large-scale transport and logistics operation
  • Lead and develop transport, planning, and operational teams to deliver high performance
  • Drive fleet utilisation, cost control, and service excellence across the operation
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Improve planning, routing, and operational efficiency to maximise profitability
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and growth opportunities
  • Lead a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Transport General Manager, Head of Transport, or Senior Transport Operations Leader
  • Strong background in general haulage
  • Experience managing fleets, drivers, planners, and operational teams
  • Excellent understanding of UK transport compliance and operational standards
  • Commercially aware with a focus on performance and cost efficiency
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • CPC qualified
