Senior Payroll Officer
Full time/Permanent
PO1: £43,308 pa rising in annual increments to £45,852 pa incl. LW.
We are a diverse payroll team of 12 members managing payroll for approximately 3,000 school staff, 3,200 corporate staff, and around 200 external school staff.
About the Role
We seek an experienced and proactive Senior Payroll Officer to support the delivery of a high-quality, accurate and timely payroll service. The role involves providing specialist payroll advice, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and managing complex payroll calculations across a diverse workforce.
You will play a key role in supporting service improvement, mentoring staff, maintaining strong relationships with internal teams, schools and external stakeholders. You will also contribute to service transformation initiatives, helping to modernise payroll processes and enhance customer experience.

Qualifications
- Experienced payroll officer, preferably in a similar large organisation.
- Strong technical payroll knowledge and experience with Oracle payroll system.
- Knowledge of statutory payroll regulations and compliance.
- Excellent customer‑focused service approach.
- Good teamwork, communication and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to modernisation projects.
