Specialty Doctor Anaesthetics

Due to an expanding service, applications are invited for two 12 month fixed term posts for Trust Specialty Doctors in Anaesthesia at Warwick Hospital.
Applicants should have suitable anaesthetic experience for this grade, and should possess full registration with the GMC at the time of interview.
You will be expected to contribute to elective and emergency work, and provide a high degree of input into our intensive care and obstetric services.
The post includes participation in a full shift system to provide 24 hour onsite Anaesthetic cover.
The Anaesthetic Department consists of 28 Consultants, 6 Associate Specialists and 8 Specialty Doctors. All major surgical specialities (with the exception of Plastic, Neuro and Cardiothoracic surgery) are represented.
The department has a regular commitment to audit and opportunities for training and development will be made available.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be responsible in immediate clinical matters to the nominated duty consultant. Professional accountability is via the Clinical Director of the Anaesthetic Department to the Associate Chief Medical Officer (Elective) and ultimately to the Medical Director.
Job responsibilities
Employment is offered on the basis of;
10 sessions per week: Programmed Activity (PA) allocation for the shifts are calculated in line with the Specialist and Specialty (SAS) 2021 Contract Terms & Conditions, i.e. working hours weekdays 7am 9pm: 4 hours per PA, hours worked outside these hours: 3 hours per PA.
Temporary additional sessions may be offered to applicants wishing to undertake additional regular daytime duties up to a maximum of two sessions per week.
Support will be given if required by the service for the development of a sub-specialty role.
Person Specification
Professional Experience
- Minimum of five years as a registrar or staff grade and/or specialty doctor
- Essential competencies in emergency and trauma anaesthesia ALS and PALS/APLS
