This role is suitable for newly qualified pharmacists, those keen to move to primary care, or those looking to continue their development as a Primary Care Clinical Pharmacist.

  • You will work to deliver all levels of the pharmacotherapy service to GP practices and other healthcare professionals in the Inverness area and surrounding area, as part of a multi-professional team to optimise safe, quality, evidence-based and cost-effective use of medicines as an independent clinical pharmacist, delivering patient care via telephone and /or face to face consultations.
  • You will have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You should have a relevant postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • You will have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills alongside a commitment to learning and development.
  • The successful candidate will be encouraged to complete the NES Post-Registration Foundation Training programme or General Practice Clinical Pharmacist Framework as appropriate.
  • You will be an independent prescriber or be willing to work towards this. Independent Prescriber training would be supported if not already achieved.
  • You will be supported by the pharmacy team and by practice colleagues with a dedicated educational supervisor and protected learning time. We encourage peer support and shared learning.

This post will involve travelling to a number of locations so a full, current driving licence and use of own car for work purposes is essential.

This is a full-time permanent post of 36 hours per week, to be worked in accordance with service requirements.

Additional Information for Candidates

  • Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
