HSEQ Advisor

Location: Hybrid | National travel across UK sites

Contract: Permanent

Security: BPSS required

Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for true autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to shape safety culture across a major national contract?

ISS Facilities are recruiting an HSEQ Advisor to support our client’s Projects portfolio—spanning over 800 sites across the UK.

This role is perfect for a confident, solutions‑focused safety specialist who is comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, leading investigations, and driving continuous improvement in a dynamic projects environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

As the HSEQ Advisor, you will act as a trusted advisor to Project Directors, Site Managers and contractors, ensuring all work is delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with legislation, ISS standards and CDM Regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out regular (often unannounced) audits across DWP project sites
  • Assess compliance against behavioural, procedural and physical safety standards
  • Produce detailed audit reports, track corrective actions and identify trends
  • Review and approve project‑specific RAMS, toolbox talks and risk assessments
  • Support project teams in identifying hazards and implementing effective controls
  • Lead investigations into accidents, near misses and unsafe events
  • Complete RIDDOR notifications and present root‑cause findings and preventative actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and legislative training (e.g., asbestos awareness, manual handling)
  • Maintain competence matrices and ensure site teams hold valid certifications
  • Keep HSEQ policies aligned with latest HSE guidance
  • Act as SME for CDM & Building Safety Act compliance
  • Lead improvements in governance, processes and audit frameworks
  • Work closely with senior leaders and project teams to influence safe project outcomes

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Strong HSEQ background—ideally from construction, FM or small works
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • Experience working under CDM Regulations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Confident conducting audits, leading investigations and advising project teams

Desirable Qualifications

  • Professional accreditation: MCIOB, MRICS, IOSH Chartered, or equivalent

Other Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (travel required across UK sites)
  • BPSS clearance (ISS will support the process)
