Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.**About the Role**The Whole Energy System Resilience (WESR) directorate strengthens whole-energy-system resilience by being a catalyst for change – turning insight into coordinated, prioritised action that reduces risk and builds capability across the system. WESR delivers this through analysis, assessments, reviews, emergency exercises, and plans that drive tangible improvements with our partners.**This role is to**lead the interpretation and integration of hazard- and physical-risk policy insights into WESR’s understanding of energy system risk, ensuring that environmental, climate, and physical hazard signals are connected, interpreted, and reflected in strategic resilience thinking**Due to taking on new gas supply security responsibilities, these roles** will undertake, lead and deliver new modelling in the gas supply security space up to ten years out, and work across a range of organisations to deliver outcomes which ensure future security of supply.**Key accountabilities*** Create and undertake modelling for the annual Gas Supply Security Assessment (GSSA) which considers the availability, reliability and deliverability of gas supplies for critical winter periods up to ten years ahead* Deliver new advice on gas supply security to DESNZ and Ofgem focusing on the next one to four years* Deliver any mitigations and remediations advice as part of the GSSA as required in NESO’s licence condition. Considering interactions of emergency standards across vectors.* Work across NESO and key stakeholders to align modelling, assumptions and conclusions. Proactively ensuring the gas supply security work fits coherently into NESO’s central strategy* Work with internal colleagues, and develop close collaboration with Government, Ofgem, National Gas Transmission and other expert stakeholders on emerging risk to gas supply security. Refining assumptions, developing new approaches collectively and delivery outcomes which ensure future gas supply security for GB.**About You*** Excellent understanding of gas supply sources in Great Britain and global gas markets including how trends differ from within season and throughout long-term trends* Ability to position gas within whole energy system strategic and resilience planning, bringing in knowledge of multiple vectors when necessary* Excellent analytical skills.
