Morson Vital is recruiting Signalling & Telecoms Team Leads on behalf of a major UK rail infrastructure organisation. This is a safety‑critical, hands‑on leadership role, responsible for leading high‑performing signalling teams delivering inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities.
Location: Wakefield or Leeds (Must be within a 60 minute commute)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, direct and motivate a team to deliver work safely, efficiently, and to required standards
- Organise daily activities covering inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal works
- Establish, maintain and monitor robust safety arrangements and safe systems of work
- Proactively manage quality, compliance, and team competence
- Ensure all vehicles, tools, equipment and materials are fit for purpose and compliant
- Work hands‑on, setting the standard for technical excellence and safety leadership
- Produce essential operational, safety and compliance reports
- Act as a role model for safety, behaviours, and performance on site
Safety & Working Arrangements

- Involves days, nights, weekends, and on‑call working
- Subject to: Medical assessment, Drug & alcohol testing, BPSS (Basic Personnel Security Standard) clearance
Essential Criteria
- Experience organising and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven Railway Signalling experience, including: Inspection, Faulting, Maintenance, Renewal activities
- Working knowledge of: NR/L3/SIG/10663, NR/L3/SIG/11231
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions
- A clear, confident and inspirational leadership style
- Valid IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence (1.4.230)
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in a Signalling Team Leader or Supervisory role
- Willing and able to drive vehicles in line with business requirements
