Electrical Assembly Technician

Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire – 4‑day week, Monday to Thursday on site.

Role type: Permanent.

Salary: £32,000 – £34,500 per annum, depending on experience.

The client is an established defence manufacturing firm based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, and has a multi‑disciplined team that the successful candidate will join.

Applicants must have lived and worked in the UK for at least 5 years and be eligible for BPSS and SC security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design cable and harness assemblies from engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Use hand tools, jigs, fixtures and measuring tools safely and competently.
• Operate crimp tools and hand‑solder components with high accuracy.
• Work methodically and precisely to complete production tasks on high‑value hardware.
• Problem‑solve with a positive attitude and collaborate with the engineering group.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience manufacturing cable and harness assemblies to specification in a medium‑volume production environment.
• Understanding of ESD controls.
• Experience with crimp tools and hand soldering to high accuracy.
• Competence with IT software packages.
• Apply 5S cleanliness and housekeeping methodology.
• High level of health and safety awareness.
• Certified IPC‑620 or experience with IPC/J‑Standards.
