Maintenance EngineerLocation: Morpeth, NorthumberlandSalary: £35,000 – £40,000Type: Full-time, Permanent | Day Shift (37.5 hours)

A well-established and innovative manufacturing business, specialising in high-quality, safety-critical products, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its growing UK operation. This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative engineering team, offering the opportunity to play a key part in maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair plant machinery including CNC sewing machines, ultrasonic welders, and spring winders (full training provided)
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective, long-term corrective actions to minimise downtime
  • Lead the introduction and development of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production
  • Design and produce jigs and fixtures aligned with quality, cost, delivery, safety and customer requirements
  • Source and manage spare parts, materials, and subcontractors in line with operational and cost targets
  • Support health & safety compliance across all plant and machinery
  • Develop and improve documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Assist with new product introduction, including supporting new machinery implementation
  • Provide technical support during customer visits and occasional travel (UK and international)
  • Train production operators in basic daily maintenance activities
  • Support wider production operations when required

Candidate Requirements

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Time-served mechanical engineer
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment (safety-critical products advantageous)
  • Strong experience maintaining pneumatic machinery
  • Competent using Microsoft Office
  • Confident working independently with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Passion for engineering, quality, safety, and continuous improvement
