Location Northern Ireland – flexible base with travel across NI (Most travel concentrated in Derry, Cookstown, Dungannon and Ballymena)
Salary £13.00 – £16.50 per hour, depending on experience Equivalent to approximately £23,900 – £30,300 per annum, based on a 35.35-hour working week
Contract Type Full-time, permanent (part-time opportunities may also be considered)
35.35 hours per week for full-time roles (Monday-Thursday 8:45am-5:00pm, Friday 8:45am-4:00pm)
The Role Happy Jobs NI is delighted to be representing a well-established and respected training and education provider that specialises in delivering industry-recognised qualifications to the meat and poultry processing sector. Due to continued organisational growth and the onboarding of new employer clients, they are expanding their delivery team and are now looking to recruit two Meat & Poultry Tutors.
While full-time positions are preferred, candidates seeking a part-time opportunity are also encouraged to get in touch to discuss flexible working options.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong industry experience, such as a butcher, meat processing professional, production supervisor, Specialist Skills Trainer or in-house trainer, who is passionate about developing people and supporting skills progression within the industry.
You don’t need to be an experienced tutor to apply; however, previous experience as a tutor, trainer or assessor would be highly desirable. Candidates with experience training, mentoring or supervising staff within a meat or poultry processing environment are strongly encouraged to apply, as full support and development can be provided.
This role would also suit candidates currently working as a Specialist Skills Trainer, in-house Trainer, or as part of a Learning & Development or Training team within a meat or poultry processing environment, who are looking to move into a more formal tutoring, assessment or vocational training role.
The role involves delivering both practical and theory-based training and assessment for vocational will work with learners in classroom settings and on-site within employer premises. Travel will be required across Northern Ireland, with the majority of work focused around Derry, Cookstown, Dungannon and Ballymena. While candidates can be based anywhere across NI, proximity to training centres in Derry, Strabane, Omagh or Cookstown would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver practical and theoretical training in meat and poultry processing and related vocational qualifications
Assess learners’ skills and knowledge, providing constructive one-to-one feedback to support progression
Support learners in compiling and completing portfolios of evidence to awarding body standards
Develop, implement and review individual learning plans tailored to varying abilities and learning needs
Adapt training materials for learners with different learning styles, including those where English is not a first language
Maintain accurate assessment paperwork, learner records and monitoring documentation
Work closely with employer clients to upskill their workforce and support recognised qualifications
Act as an academic and pastoral point of contact for learners
Undertake additional duties appropriate to the level of responsibility of the role
Person Specification / About You
Essential:
Background in the meat or poultry processing industry, such as butchery, production, quality, training or supervision
Experience training, mentoring or supervising staff
A minimum Level 4 qualification in meat and poultry industry skills, or equivalent (If you hold a qualification and are unsure whether it is equivalent to Level 4, please get in touch – support and guidance can be provided)
GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team
Flexible approach with a willingness to travel across Northern Ireland
Desirable (but not essential):
Assessor qualification (D33 / A1 / Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement)
Teaching or training qualification (Level 4 Teaching Certificate, PGCE or equivalent)
Experience delivering NVQs, apprenticeships or vocational qualifications
Confident using ICT systems for learner tracking and administration
