Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled Carpenter and Decorator, experienced in historic restoration work to join our team based in Bedfordshire. The role involves working on a range of traditional and heritage projects, including listed buildings and conservation areas, where attention to detail and respect for historic fabric is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrying out high-quality internal and external carpentry work
Skilled in internal and external decoration, including but not limited to preparation of surfaces, painting, papering and finishing (waxing/polishing)
Working on timber-framed buildings and traditional structures
Repair, restoration, installation and finish of windows and doors
Preservation and conservation of listed and heritage properties
Using traditional methods and materials appropriate to historic buildings
Ensuring all work meets a high standard of craftsmanship
Requirements:
Proven experience in heritage or traditional carpentry
Skilled in both internal and external woodwork and decoration
Experience with timber framing, windows, and doors
Understanding and appreciation of conservation principles and historic building techniques
Full UK driving licence and own vehicle
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
