We have a fantastic job opportunity for a Skilled Boat Building Laminator with previous hands-on experience in composite lamination processes, strong understanding of materials, tools and techniques used in boat construction and the ability to read 2D and 3D orthographic drawings.
As a Skilled Boat Building Laminator you will manufacture GRP components using wet lay-up / infusion techniques.
The Skilled Boat Building Laminator will be responsible for laying up fiberglass and other composite materials in mould tools to create high-quality boat hulls and components that meet the company’s high performance and quality standards.
DUTIES
Your duties and responsibilities as the Skilled Boat Building Laminator will include:
Prepare moulds , hulls, decks, trays and canopies and small moulds prior to applying gel coatWork with a range of chemicals including resins and hardenersCalculate ratios, measuring and mixing products in line with company standardsApply gel coat, fibre glass / carbon mat and resin to moulds using open and closed moulding techniquesInstall basic structural components as required according to drawingsSafely release mould toolsComplex secondary bonding / structural bonding techniquesResin infusion – ability to apply dry lay-up, consumables and infusion bagComplete infusion shooting via buckets and Ciject Zero machinesConduct air checks on fibre glass lay-ups and gel coat thickness checks during productionEnsure work is completed to company quality standards and within project deadlinesMaintain a clean, safe and organised working environment, adhering to 5SFollow all health and safety regulations and wear appropriate PPESupport less experienced operatives / apprenticesCollaborate with other departments to ensure efficient workflow and project completionCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
