Job Overview

The Manchester Cystic Fibrosis Unit is a centre of excellence that provides care for young adults with cystic fibrosis and respiratory patients. The unit has 20 beds with a 1:5–6 nurse to patient ratio and offers holistic nursing care with excellent support and training.

This position is on a fixed‑term, 12‑month contract covering maternity leave. The role is suitable for new or experienced registered nurses.

Main Duties

  • Assess, plan, evaluate and deliver comprehensive patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical governance processes.
  • Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff and pre‑registration students.
  • Take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and maintenance of high standards of quality patient care during shifts.

Qualifications

  • First‑level registration – Registered Nurse
  • Degree or Diploma
  • Teaching qualification (or equivalent)
  • Degree level 6 study

Experience

  • Experience working individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to supervise and support junior staff
  • Evidence of teaching and assessment skills or ability
  • Awareness of clinical audit
  • Experience undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
  • Relevant area of practice experience
