Job Overview
The Manchester Cystic Fibrosis Unit is a centre of excellence that provides care for young adults with cystic fibrosis and respiratory patients. The unit has 20 beds with a 1:5–6 nurse to patient ratio and offers holistic nursing care with excellent support and training.
This position is on a fixed‑term, 12‑month contract covering maternity leave. The role is suitable for new or experienced registered nurses.

Main Duties
- Assess, plan, evaluate and deliver comprehensive patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical governance processes.
- Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff and pre‑registration students.
- Take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and maintenance of high standards of quality patient care during shifts.
Qualifications
- First‑level registration – Registered Nurse
- Degree or Diploma
- Teaching qualification (or equivalent)
- Degree level 6 study
Experience
- Experience working individually and as part of a team
- Ability to supervise and support junior staff
- Evidence of teaching and assessment skills or ability
- Awareness of clinical audit
- Experience undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
- Relevant area of practice experience
