Salary

Up to about £65,000 depending on experience.

Work arrangement

Hybrid; primarily office‑based with opportunities to work from home.

Security clearance

British citizen or dual UK national with British citizenship. All successful candidates will undergo HMG BPSS checks.

The opportunity

Hands‑on role designing and developing Command and Control architectures for next‑generation Air Defence Systems. Work with advanced missile system technologies and small, focused, high‑impact teams.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain software for Command and Control systems used in advanced missile systems.

Collaborate with software, systems, and electronics engineers to tackle complex problems.

Document solutions and provide ongoing support to ensure safety, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in software engineering and its realisation with system‑wide impact.
  • Proficiency in C++.
  • Experience with software architecture models.
  • Collaborative, open approach to development and strong teamwork skills.

Other skills of interest

  • Knowledge of real‑time multi‑threaded applications.
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements to automated target integration and proving.
  • Familiarity with new tools, techniques, and approaches that improve process efficiency and sustainability.
  • Experience in other languages such as Ada.
  • Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00‑55, DO‑178C, IEC 61508, and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++.
