Volunteering Team Lead

This role offers an excellent opportunity to become a Volunteering Team Lead and build a peer network to support those who use our services in Waltham Forest. The role involves developing a strong volunteering offer and leading a team of peer mentors and volunteers.

Part Time – 22.5 hours per week (pro‑rated based on experience). Full‑time hours are 37.5 per week.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the service manager and staff team to identify meaningful volunteering opportunities.
  • Create and support a positive culture of volunteering within the service.
  • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers.
  • Support the welfare and wellbeing of volunteers.
  • Develop internal and external links to attract volunteers.
  • Deliver and assess accredited and regulated training to support volunteer development, working within the framework of our awarding body.
  • Train colleagues in how to support and supervise volunteers, providing direct line‑management supervision when required.
  • Lead on service‑user involvement, facilitating conversations between service users and decision‑makers within the service.
  • Promote meaningful service‑user involvement within the team, including facilitating the production of regular service‑user bulletins.

About you

  • Experienced in recruiting, training and managing volunteers.
  • Aware of the challenges faced by people who use our services.
  • Experienced in delivering learning and training to others.
  • Accomplished written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of IT competency.
  • Capable, committed, and influential leader.
  • Experience of promoting the voice of service users.
