Out-of-Hours Vet Surgeon | Weekend & Night Shifts

Veterinary Surgeon (Out of Hours) – Woodbridge, Ipswich, Suffolk

Part‑time, first‑opinion practice. Competitive salary up to £68,000 (DOE) annualised hours for a 26.25 hours‑per‑week average working week.

Contract starts July 2026. The role includes a 1:4 working pattern: two weekend days (Saturday & Sunday day shift 8 am‑7 pm) and seven nights (7 pm‑8 am) plus two bank‑holiday days. Schedule allows 3 weeks off after each 7‑night run.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care out‑of‑hours consultations.
• Receive and manage member practice case transfers.
• Provide inpatient care, conduct medical work‑ups and perform routine and emergency surgery.
• Carry out diagnostic investigations and lead surgical and medical cases.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 3–4 years post‑qualification experience.
• Confident in veterinary clinical skills and surgical procedures.
• Good communication skills and client‑care focus.
• RCVS and VDS fees paid in full.
